Australia General Skilled Migration

The Immigration department offers diverse pathways for aspirants when applying for the skilled worker visa Australia. It has been divided into the following categories:
- Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
- Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489)
- Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)
Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
The 189 Visa is an independent skilled immigrant visa which would allow the beneficiary to work and live in any part of Australia.
To be eligible for this visa the applicants must:
- The proposed occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- Have a suitable migration skills assessment report for the occupation.
- Meet the minimum points requirement of 60 points.
- Be under 45 years of age while receiving the invitation from the immigration.
- Have required level of English language test result.
- This visa is valid for five years from the date of visa approval.
State Nominated Skilled Visa (subclass 190)
This visa is granted by a territory or state sponsorship.
To be eligible for this visa the applicants must:
- The proposed occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- Have a suitable migration skills assessment report for the occupation.
- Meet the minimum points requirement of 60 points.
- Be nominated by a state or territory government agency.
- Be under 45 years of age while receiving the invitation from the immigration.
- Have required level of English language test results.
- This visa is valid for five years from the date of visa approval in which it’s obligatory for the beneficiary to live in the nominated state for first two years of the residence in Australia.
Regional (Provisional) Skilled Visa (subclass 489)
This is a four-year provisional visa which would allow the beneficiary to apply for a permanent residency in Australia.
To be eligible for this visa the applicants must:
- Be nominated by a state or territory or by an eligible relative sponsorship.
- Have a relevant occupation on the nominated list.
- Meet the minimum points requirement of 60 points.
- Be under 45 years of age while receiving the invitation from the immigration.
- Have required level of English language test results.
